Honda Haunted by Recall Ghost Again, More Than 400,000 Cars Recalled

It seems the ghost of recalls has started haunting the car giant Honda all over again. According to latest reports, the company said that it will have to recall approximately 410,000 small trucks and minivans belonging to the Element and Odyssey series.

It appears that the break system in the vehicles can make stopping a problem for the drivers if the glitch is not fixed. The recall will cover 68,000 Elements and 344,000 Odysseys roughly. The cars are 2007-2008 products.

The recall was planned after the car maker received complaints from customers.

Clearing the air, the company said that not all recalled vehicles are affected by the issue, but all units are being called back as a precaution.

Honda said that the break in these vehicles might feel soft and has to be pushed hard enough, otherwise the speed will not decrease, which can lead to serious repercussions.

Already three crashes have taken place owing to this braking problem according to the NHTSA data, though no case of death has been reported so far. NHTSA was notified of the recall by Honda on Monday.

Honda owners will begin receiving letters by the end of next month informing them that their vehicle is on the recall list.

This recall comes after a larger one, which took place in February and covered 952,118 vehicles worldwide. It is recommended that the owners of the Odyssey and Element vehicles must check their cars with the Honda dealers for their safety.

It is shocking why reputed car makers are recalling their products, first Toyota and then Honda. It is unexpected that they are not checking each and every detail of the product before sending it out to the dealers. Their reputation is now at stake.

In order to make the recall process more user-friendly, Honda has declared setting up a website as well as a call center where owners can go to check if their vehicle is in need of a recall.

It seems pointless now, since vigilance was not taken at the manufacturing level. Recalling by reputed car makers is creating an air of mistrust among the consumers. It is sure to affect the financial position of Honda and other car makers in the market. After the recall series it will not be surprising if people will think hundred times before buying a Honda car.
