Visual Inspection
- Inspect all weldings to ensure they are not defective, weak, cracked or display any forms of air pockets
- Inspect to ensure the fabricated metal displays all label markings and identifications.
- Inspect to ensure the protective coating conforms to IBC 2006 and does not contain high level emissions levels.Dimensions Inspection
- Perform a dimensional inspection to ensure that the fabricated metal was manufactured according to the design drawing that specifies the dimensions and indicates the design tolerances.
- Diameter measurements are taken with a micrometer to ensure dimensional accuracy.Mechanical Inspection
- Aterial test are performed to indicate the toughness of the structural steel.
- A tensile test is performed to test the tensile strength, the yield strength, and the elongation restrictions.
- Load bearing tests are performed to ensure the fabricated metal can hold the required load.Acoustic Inspection
- Perform an acoustic inspection using sound wave emission and which calculates the amount of waves coming back which dictates if there are any defects or cracks in the welds.
