Today there is a rising concern by parents, civil organizations, and government regulatory agencies on the safe use of the various infant cribs sold in the market presently. In many countries, organizations have set various standards that must be adhered to during the pre-production, production and pre-shipment stages.

Full-Size Infant Crib Inspection and Quality Control Standards
 

  • ASTM F1169 – 11 Safety Standard for Full-Size Infant Cribs
    This ASTM International standard safety standard is used in the determination of design requirement, structural integrity, warning labels requirement, and instructional materials requirement for full-size infant cribs. Infant cribs that are fully furnished will be inspected on and should conform to the requirements on vertical impact characteristics of their mattress support structure, cyclic and static properties, drop and folding latch characteristics, crib side spindle torque characteristics, and plastic teething rail characteristics.
     
  • 16CFR 1508 Standard for Full-Size Infant Cribs
    This requirement is set by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. This should be followed by suppliers of full-size infant cribs to the USA.
     
  • SOR/2010-261 Standard Regulations for Cribs, Cradles, Bassinets
    The Canada Consumer Product Safety Act developed this infant crib standard which is used in Canada since June 20, 2011.
     
  • UL 2275 Full-Size Baby Crib Standard
    This UL Standard is used for the use on full-size infant cribs to be used on babies weighing 35lbs or less. In conjunction to this standard is UL 2060(Standard for Fire Test of Mattresses with Bedclothes).
     
  • AS/NZS 2172 Infant Full Size Crib– Safety Standard
    This internationally aligned standard on full-size infant cribs was developed by Standards Australia and is used in Australia and New Zealand.

Non-Full-Size Infant Crib Inspection and Quality Control Standards
 

  • ASTM F406 – 11b Consumer Safety Standard for Non-Full-Size Infant Cribs
    The ASTM F406-11b standard provides the infant crib inspection requirements in the determination of performance and structural properties of non-full-size infant cribs. Provided along with the various tests are the labels and instructional manuals requirements for this type of infant crib.
     
  • 16CFR 1509 Standard for Non-Full-Size Cribs
    This requirement is set by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. This standard must be adhered to by suppliers of non-full-size infant cribs in the United States.
     
  • EN 1130 Non full size nfant Crib Standard
    This European standard is used for non full size infant cribs to be distributed in Europe.
     
  • AS/NZS 2195 Infant Crib Safety Standard
    Developed by Standards Australia, this standard is recognized and enforced by the Australian and New Zealand governments.

Infant Crib Inspection and Quality Control Standards for Commercial Use
 

  • ASTM F2710 – 08 Consumer Safety Standard for Commercial Cribs
    A separately designed ASTM international standard specification, the ASTM F2710 – 08 is used in the determination of the test methods, labeling requirements, and performance requirements for commercial infant cribs. Further, infant cribs made while adhering to this ASTM International specification should be safe for commercial use such as hotels, day care centers, rentals, motels, and many more.
