Tennis Shoe Inspection and Quality Control

The process to manufacture tennis shoes is complex as a tennis shoe can contain as many as 50 separate sections to make. Workers will cut each type of material into the desired patterns and then stitch the shoe beginning with the upper section, following with the middle and lower sections, then stitching in the specific court style sole onto the tennis shoe.

Final visual inspections are performed to ensure the tennis shoe are not unsightly. The soles on a tennis shoe are smoothed out, glue is removed from visible areas, laces are placed inside the top of the tennis shoe. The shoe is now complete and ready for the final steps of inspection before shipping of to your consumer base.

Traction Characteristics of the Tennis Shoe Test

Traction Characteristics of the Tennis Shoe Test will be used by tennis shoe manufacturers to characterize the grip of the tennis shoe surface, and as an important tool for development and improvement of tennis shoes. This test will also be administered by researchers. They will be analyzing the effect on grass, turf density, soil texture and composition, on traction characteristics of tennis shoes.

Standard Guideline for the Fitting of Tennis Shoes
A guideline was also created by ASTM (American Standard Testing Material) for the proper fitting of athletic footwear. Quality control specialists will need to ensure the shoe will conform to the foot and deliver flexible comfortable footwear, as your tennis shoe could deliver serious discomfort in the heel or ball of toes, bunions of the sides of the feet, corns and callouses, or a serious injury.
