Visual Inspection

    • A visual test is performed to identify cracks, surface porosity and open structure defects.
    • Inspect to ensure information such as date of production, the manufacturers name, the serial number and the specifications in which the forging / casting complies are visible and correctly identified.

Dimensions Inspection

      • A dimensional inspection is performed to confirm that the forging or casting are manufactured according to the design drawing that specifies the dimensions and indicates the design tolerances.

Material Inspection

      • A tensile test is performed to test the tensile strength, the yield strength, and the elongation restrictions.
      • A hardness test is performed to test the forging or casting for hardness and micro-hardness to test the presence of structure and carbides.
      • Bending tests are performed to test the welding ability of the forging and casting material.
      • Shock resistance test are performed on forging and casting materials that are brittle at room temperatures and materials that are brittle at lower temperatures.
      • Creep strength test is performed to measure the permanent elongation of forging or casting materials.

Acoustic Inspection

  • Ultrasonic testing is performed using sound wave emission and which calculates the amount of waves coming back which dictates if some porosity, gas inclusions cracks are present in the forging or castings.
