There are several different type of light bulbs being manufactured in China. A few of these light bulbs include:

  • Incandescent light bulb– An incandescent bulb is the least expensive bulb and is used typical in household and commercial establishments.
  • Halogen light bulb– A halogen bulb contains mercury and argon gas, which mixes together and produces an ultra-violet energy. Halogen bulbs are typically used in garages, basements and commercial establishments.
  • Mercury Vapor light bulb– A mercury vapor bulb contains a quartz arc tube which contains pressurized mercury vapors which produces an ultra-violet energy.
  • Neon light bulb– A neon bulb is made up glass that contains neon gas that glows when an electrical discharge takes place. Neon bulbs are used in business signs, and car lighting accessories.
  • Metal Halide light bulb– A metal halide bulb is considered an outdoor bulb which is generally used inside stadiums and highways. This bulb works in a very similar fashion to a mercury vapor bulb.
  • High Pressure Sodium light bulb - A high pressure sodium bulb is similar to mercury vapor bulbs. The only difference in the two bulbs is the arc tube in the high pressure sodium bulb is made of aluminum oxide, and it contains sodium and mercury.

Having a large range of light bulbs being manufactured in China, it is essential to undergo various inspection tests to comply with International Quality Standards before being shipped to consumers.A few of the inspection tests being performed by quality control specialist’s in China include:

  • EN 50285 Luminous Efficacy
  • EN 60357, 60064, 60969 Light bulb Lifetime
  • EN 60969 Lamp start time,
  • EN 60969 Lamp warm-up time
  • IEC 62471 Specific radiant UV power
  • IEC 61000-3-2 Power Factor
  • IEC 60825 Laser Classification
  • IEC 62471 Photobiological safety of light bulbs

When testing the lifetime of the light bulb, various test light bulbs are screwed into racks and are lit at levels that far exceed their average strength. This will provide specialists with an accurate reading on the life of the light bulb. A few other light bulb inspection tests that need to be administered during the quality control testing process include:

  • Temperature rise test
  • Resistance to temperature and humidity test
  • Insulation resistance
  • Dielectric strength & leakage current test
  • Lightning surge test
