When we talk about different lighting products, the first thing that comes to mind for most people is the light bulb. Everywhere we go, we see different lighting products from private homes to tall buildings because of the added convenience it brings to places or rooms needing the proper lighting equipment.

Since handling different lighting products require full attention to detail and proper awareness, it is important that every item being inspected has been checked thoroughly to ensure that there are no defective products being shipped for distribution.
Here are some of the inspection processes being used for various lighting products:

VISUAL INSPECTION

The purpose of this inspection is to determine if there are any noticeable damages or fragments inside the product to ensure that the lighting product is safe and ready for use. Here are some of the tests being used to verify that the product is ready for the next inspection queue:

  • Digital Microscopy and Photography analysis.
  • 200x Magnification analysis (if applicable)
  • X-Ray analysis and testing
  • Material Inspection

INTERNAL INSPECTION

The purpose of this inspection is to verify that each part and/or mechanism is properly and securely attached and is of right count to ensure that each lighting product has all the necessary tools prior to being boxed. All items that undergo internal inspection will have to be signed via the data sheet verification process to make sure that all products adhere to the safety standards.

SURFACE INSPECTION

The purpose of this inspection is to identify and inspect the overall surface construction of the product to see if the particular lighting product is ready for the other tests included on this inspection process. Here are some of the tests to be used for this inspection:

  • Component Surface analysis
  • Acetone Swab Test (for non-LED equipment only)

HANDS-ON INSPECTION

The purpose of this inspection is to verify that each lighting product on this queue is put to test by using different methods specialized for this particular test. Each item will undergo these different tests to determine product reliability and safety. Here are some of the tests to be conducted on each particular lighting product on queue:

  • Solder-ability test
  • Electrical Test
  • Mechanical and Chemical de-capsulation
  • Microscopic Die inspection (if applicable)

FINAL INSPECTION

The purpose of this inspection is to verify that each lighting product to be tested has passed the series of battery tests to ensure product reliability and safety regardless of the area. Each personnel that will handle the final inspection process must be familiar with the standardized tests for each product to maximize the overall result. Here are some of the tests to be conducted for each lighting product:

  • Visual Test – inspect packaging, quantity and assortment and overall product status.
  • Measurement Test – verify if each lighting product under the same category has the same dimensions and weight.
  • Temperature Test – verify if each lighting product generates the same amount of electricity and heat.
  • Humidity Test – verify if each lighting product does not generate any humidity after conducting temperature test.
  • Dielectric strength and leakage current test – inspect each part concerned for any leakages or weak bindings.
  • Lightning Surge Test – Inspect and identify each lighting product that failed to initialize the surge protection to fully assess the success ratio.
  • Function and Performance Test – each lighting product will undergo a 12 hour battery test to confirm product reliability, temperature and heat resistance and product safety even after extended use.
