The MP3 player industry is one of the fastest evolving consumer markets as the needs and desires of consumers change and technology advances. Importing of MP3 players from China has increased significantly over the years, as manufacturers offer cheaper raw materials and lower production costs.

With this being said, it is extremely important to have a MP3 player inspection if you are buying them from China. MP3 players have the following international standards set in place to ensure the product meets quality standards and is safe for everyday consumer use:

    • ISO/IEC 11172-3
The ISO/IEC 11172-3 standard describes the code of high quality audio for mp3 players and the method for decoding the high quality audio signals. This standard is used for mp3 players providing a total continuous transfer rate of 1,5 Mbit/s for audio bitstreams, and for sampling rates of 32 kHz, 44,1 kHz, and 48 kHz.

    • ISO IEC 13818-3
The ISO IEC 13818-3 standard is used to decrease sampling frequencies and is the method for decoding of the multichannel and multilingual high quality audio signals.

  • ISO IEC 29341-4-10
The ISO IEC 29341-4-10 standard describes a common model for audio transport control suitable for a generic user interface.
  • ISO/IEC 29341-3-1
The ISO/IEC 29341-3-1 standard describes the audio architecture that allows mp3 players to support different types of formats such as MP3 and WMA. This standard also describes the audio architecture to allow mp3 players to support various types of transfer protocols.
  • IEC 61883-1
The IEC 61883-1 standard describes the packet format and the transmission timing for mp3 audio data.
