Textile products are the most commonly purchased product from Chinese manufacturers due to the inexpensive material and production costs offered to worldwide consumers. Textiles can be described as a material consisting of a network of natural or artificial fibres often referred to as:

  • Cotton
  • Wool

InTouch employs the most recent international standards in developing its textile inspection and quality control protocols. The following are a few of the most current international standards and certification for textiles:

The Association for Contract Textiles
The Association for Contract Textiles has developed five separate certifications that assure textiles perform up to international standards that include flame resistance, crocking resistance, ultra-violet light resistance , physical properties, and abrasion.

The American Society for Testing and Materials
The American Society for Testing and Materials Test Method D1777 – 96 describes the test methods used to determine the Thickness of textiles. This test method is used for pre-shipment testing of commercial shipments.

American Association for Textile Chemists and Colorists
The American Association for Textile Chemists and Colorists developed the test method AATCC 93-2005 for abrasion resistance of textiles. The textile sample is subjected to flexing, rubbing, shock, compression and stretching by an impeller and then is evaluated for abrasion resistance.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission developed the standard for the flammability of textiles used for clothing. The 16 CFR 1610 applies to adult and children’s apparel except for children’s sleepwear, which must conform to additional standards.

Oeko-Tex
Oeko-Tex an international testing and certification system for home textiles, limiting the use of certain chemicals. Oeko-Tex was developed in 1992 and is used as a safety standard used to check for any harmful chemicals or substances at each stage in the production process.
